EYE TESTING CLINIC

Our eye testing Clinic run by Lorna Newman at Checkley Wood Shoot on Wednesday 18th February was a great success and several owners commented on how good our organisation was! Lorna Newman tested 41 dogs on the day including one Gonioscopy. The timing of dogs arriving and being presented for testing went very smoothly thanks to Matthew's clear scheduling and everyone remembering to bring their dogs' certificates with them! Thank you to Checkley Wood shoot for kindly allowing us to use the Gunroom and to all the Committee who worked in shifts to make the day a success. Thank you also to Lorna whom we hope to invite to do eye testing again. 

J REGS SEMINAR

The Society held a very successful and fully booked J Regs seminar on Sunday 22nd February, presented by John Yarwood, RKC A Panel judge. John is a designated RKC J Regs presenter and made the information not only relevant but interesting and engaging. Our hosts were Ivor Beavis and Checkley Wood Shoot who kindly allowed us to use the Gunroom for the day. Bacon butties and hot drinks made a great start with a break around lunch time. During the break we were all able to examine 4 shot (defrosted!) cock pheasants so we could learn how to tell if the dogs had crushed the ribcages. The afternoon session finished with completing the exam paper for any who wished to do so, and all 14 of the candidates did indeed do the exam with a very high pass rate, including 3 who although failing on the day immediately succeded in passing later on line!  Congratulations to all who attended, and grateful thanks to John for such a successful presentation, and to our hosts Ivor Beavis and Checkley Wood Shoot.

HEADS UP! Some dates for activities in 2026.

We are proposing to hold a J Regs Seminar in February so watch this space for more details. 

There will be another eye testing clinic at Checkley in early March - date to be advised.

Our AGM will be held on Thursday 26th March 2026 at 6.30pm at Checkley Wood. All members are invited to attend.
